How long have you worked at IMO, what is your role, and what does it entail?
I have been with IMO for a little under two years now as a graphic designer in the marketing department, and I work within the content marketing team. I design most of our marketing material including blog posts and webinar pages, as well as assets like white papers, infographics, eBooks, videos, and more. My role is to design these assets in an easily digestible and branded layout – like adding a little pop of color into very exciting topics like reimbursement. Aside from asset layout, you can find me on our website adding and updating content, or on our social channels sharing and promoting IMO content with our followers. (If you don’t already follow us, you can find IMO on Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.)

How has working at IMO changed your perspective as a patient, an employee, a manager, or otherwise?
Before working with IMO, I had little to no background in healthcare, let alone health IT. Since 2019, I have been immersed in the world of healthcare informatics and I am learning so much about the clinician experience, whereas I only had a patient perspective previously. Before, I never thought about how my doctors documented information or how I was billed. I never knew about patient problem lists or relevant clinical data. And now, at appointments I find myself trying to peer at the EHR screen, identifying each section of the front sheet and checking to see if my doctor is utilizing IMO’s terminology solutions.
What has been your favorite project to work on at IMO, and why?
As COVID-19 was beginning to hit the US, the HIMSS20 conference was cancelled. Without this event we were losing the opportunity to share the value of IMO’s terminology and insights solutions to a massive audience. But the marketing team didn’t miss a beat. The same day – just minutes after the cancellation was announced – the whole team gathered in the conference room to brainstorm an entirely different strategy. As a team, we identified the critical metrics we were hoping to meet and how in a nationwide lockdown we could still deliver. Once we clarified our goals, we constructed different means of reaching them and new audiences. It was unlike any project I had ever worked on before. Regrouping and pivoting in real time. Utilizing the creative abilities of every marketer to create a campaign that would lessen the blow of the event cancellation and help us stand out in the industry. We had breakout groups with voices shouting ideas and slogans alongside multiple whiteboards with ideas scribbled and scratched out. What started off as a problematic situation (to say the least), turned out to be a very memorable project. That day I learned how remarkable and creative the minds are around me are, and what is possible when we all work together as a team.
Tell us about a moment, an exchange, or experience you had at IMO that made you realize, “I’m in the right place.”
I knew I was in the right place when I was interviewing. IMO promotes great employee culture and emphasizes creating teams that care for one another, and I could see that just from my initial meetings. IMO is my first job out of college, and I am so lucky to be surrounded by a team of people who support and mentor me. My coworkers are invested in my growth both professionally and personally. I couldn’t ask to be at a better organization and with a better team.
